Tsumami Kanzashi is an ancient Japanese art form dating back to the beginning of the Geisha. Squares of silk would be folded into triangles and other shapes to create the elaborate floral hair decorations they wore and still wear today. This version calls for folded squares and rectangles of double face satin ribbon to create Christmas ornaments, in this case a poinsettia. The large poinsettia is 5″ across and about 1-1/4″ deep. It takes 24 pieces of ribbon to create, not counting the hanger. Adorned with a rhinestone like center which may vary from the photos.
