Tsumami Kanzashi is an ancient Japanese art form dating back to the beginning of the Geisha. Squares of silk would be folded into triangles and other shapes to create the elaborate floral hair decorations they wore and still wear today. This version calls for folded squares and rectangles of double face satin ribbon to create Christmas ornaments. Of the three sizes of angels available this one closely resembles the large angel. It’s 2-1/2″ high, 2-1/2″ wide (wing span), and 2″ deep. It takes 12 pieces of ribbon to create, not counting the bow and hanger. Adorned with a halo, bow which may vary from the photos, and beads around the skirt, this version is perfect for smaller trees.
