Kanzashi Snowflake Ornament

Tsumami Kanzashi is an ancient Japanese art form dating back to the beginning of the Geisha. Squares of silk would be folded into triangles and other shapes to create the elaborate floral hair decorations they wore and still wear today. This version calls for folded squares and rectangles of double face satin ribbon to create all Kanzashi Christmas ornaments, in this case a snowflake. The average size is 3-3/4″ around 3/4″ deep.. It takes 42 squares of ribbon to create, not counting the hanger.
